Itinerary (Days)
Day 1
Our trek begins with a 9 AM drive from Manali to Jobri (16 km, approx. 1 hour). The scenic journey takes you through the lush Kullu and Chandra valleys, with views of the River Beas and towering pine trees.
On reaching Jobri, the trek starts with a 3 km easy-to-moderate hike through dense deodar and maple forests. Along the way, enjoy the sight of the Rani Nallah stream and vibrant Chikka Valley. As the trail ascends, colorful flowers and free-roaming horses enhance the experience. The day ends with an overnight stay at the Chikka campsite.
Day 2
On Day 2, we ascend to an altitude of 3600 m, making it a more challenging day. After crossing a wooden bridge, we follow the Rani Nallah streams along a gentle incline. The path is dotted with vibrant flowers, shrubs, and lush green spots, surrounded by maple and pine forests.
After crossing 2.5 km from the river, we reach the picturesque Jwara Meadows, known for its colorful flora. We take a break for lunch here before continuing towards Balu Ka Ghera. The route offers views of orchids and exotic birds. We end the day camping at Balu Ka Ghera, surrounded by towering mountains and hills
Day 3
Day 3 brings more challenging terrain, as the air becomes thinner and the path tougher. We begin at 7 AM from Balu Ka Ghera and follow the Rani Nallah streams, with the trail starting in a zigzag pattern over large boulders. After 2 km, the trail steepens, and we begin a continuous climb through snowy patches.
After 3 km, we reach Hampta Pass, a small stretch that marks the transition to Lahaul. The descent to Lahaul is difficult, with muddy paths, loose sand, and large boulders. After navigating this challenging stretch, we walk a straight path to reach Shea Goru, where we camp for the night, surrounded by stunning mountain views
Day 4
On Day 4, we head to Chatru, a peaceful settlement nestled in the Himalayas. The day starts with a 7 AM trek from Shea Goru, descending towards Chatru. The route includes crossing the Chandra River, a thrilling experience as the river rushes alongside. After a 3-4 hour walk, we arrive in Chatru by 11 AM.
Next, we drive to Chandra Tal Lake, located 900 meters from Chatru. The drive offers spectacular views of the Spiti Valley, lush landscapes, and the winding, unpaved road. Although challenging, the scenic beauty makes it unforgettable.
At Chandra Tal Lake, the serene atmosphere offers a peaceful break before we return to Chatru by evening to spend the night in tents
Day 5
On the final day, we leave Chatru early in the morning and drive for 2 hours towards Manali. Along the way, we bid farewell to the stunning Spiti Valley, passing through checkposts and army camps.
We will drive through the Atal Tunnel, which brings us closer to Manali. The Hampta Pass Trek officially ends around noon in Manali. Afterward, you can explore Manali at your leisure, soaking in its beauty, or head home with unforgettable memories of the trek.
