The Gaumukh Tapovan Trek is a soul-stirring journey to the source of the River Ganga, one of the holiest rivers in India. Starting from Gangotri, this trek takes you through the serene Gangotri National Park, rugged glaciers, and the majestic Tapovan meadows, which sit at the foot of iconic Himalayan peaks like Mt. Shivling, Mt. Meru, and the Bhagirathi sisters. A perfect mix of spiritual serenity, adventure, and alpine beauty — this is a trek like no other.

Itinerary (Days)
Day 1
Long but scenic drive through Uttarkashi and the Bhagirathi valley. Overnight stay in Gangotri.
Day 2
Explore the sacred town and visit the Gangotri Temple. Rest and prepare for the altitude.
Day 3
Trek along the roaring Bhagirathi River through pine forests. Camp at Chirbasa.
Day 4
Easy walk through moraine trails with splendid views. Campsite near the riverbank.
Day 5
Reach the glacial snout of Gaumukh, then climb to Tapovan – a meadow with stunning 360° Himalayan views. Overnight camp.
Day 6
Spend the day exploring Tapovan. Witness sunrises, meditate, or do a short acclimatization hike. Optional hike to Meru Glacier viewpoint.
Day 7
Retrace your steps all the way down to Gangotri. Night stay at guesthouse.
Day 8
Early departure from Gangotri. Return journey ends in Dehradun by late evening.
