Overview

Start your journey to Gangotri early, with breakfast packed.  Stop at Gangnani to bathe in the Garam Kund's holy waters, then continue through the scenic Harsil Valley, known for its Deodar trees and mountains. At Gangotri, bathe in the Ganges, perform Pooja and Darshan, and relax in the peaceful surroundings. Later, return to Uttarkashi for the night. The Gangotri Temple, located on the Bhagirathi River's right bank, was built in the 18th century by Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa.

Itinerary (Days)

Day 1

On the way to Barkot, stop at Mussoorie to visit Kempty Falls and Mussoorie Lake, with lunch recommended at Kempty Falls due to limited dining options ahead. Continue to Barkot, check into your hotel, and rest after the Yamunotri trek planned for the next day. Barkot has pleasant weather year-round, with temperatures ranging from 10C to 25C.

Day 2

Start your 6 km trek to Yamunotri from Jankichatti or Phoolchatti, either on foot, horseback, or via Doli (at your own expense). The trail passes through lush valleys with diverse Himalayan flora. At Yamunotri, pilgrims prepare "Prasad" by cooking rice in the boiling waters of Tapt Kund. Visit Divya Shila for worship and take a dip in the holy Jamunabai Kund. The 19th-century Yamunotri Temple, rebuilt twice, was commissioned by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur. Nearby, the hot springs of Surya Kund are significant. After exploring, return to Barkot for an overnight stay. Summer temperatures in Yamunotri range from 10C to 18C, with cool days and frosty evenings.

Day 3

After breakfast, drive to Uttarkashi, check into your hotel, visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, and stay overnight.

Day 4

Day 5

After breakfast, drive to Guptkashi via Moolgarh and Lambgaon, enjoying views of the scenic Mandakini River at Tilwara. Follow the river to Guptkashi, where you can visit the Ardh Narishwar Temple. Check into your hotel and stay overnight in Guptkashi. The name "Gupt Kashi" means "Hidden Benares," as legend says Lord Shiva hid here from the Pandavas before moving to Kedarnath. Summers in Guptkashi are mild, with temperatures between 25C and 30C, while winters are very cold.

Day 6

After breakfast, head to Kedarnath Dham. You can reach Kedarnath by helicopter or by trekking from Gaurikund, with arrangements made in advance. After the Kedarnath Darshan, return to your hotel for an overnight stay. The shrine, set against the stunning Kedarnath range, is one of Lord Shiva's 12 Jyotirlingas. According to legend, Lord Shiva hid here in the form of a bull to evade the Pandavas seeking his blessings for forgiveness after the Kurukshetra war. Summers in Kedarnath are mild, with temperatures around 20C, but winters are extremely cold, often dropping below freezing with snowfall. Light woollen clothing is recommended for summer visits.

Day 7

Following morning Pooja and breakfast, guests at the Kedarnath hotel may

check out and return to Sonprayag. Our driver will wait for you at the agreed-upon location. Get back in the car and go to the Guptkashi hotel for the night.

Day 8

After breakfast, travel to Badrinath and check into your hotel. Take a dip in the Taptkund and attend the evening Badrivishal Darshan and Aarti. Badrinath is important for ancestral rituals like Brahamakapal. Nearby attractions include Mana Village, the last Indian village before Tibet, the Vasundhara Waterfall, Bhim Pul (a natural bridge), and Vyas Gufa, where Ved Vyas is said to have written the Mahabharata. Summers are cool, with temperatures between 8C and 18C, while winters are very cold with snow, making it unsuitable for visits.

Day 9

In the morning, travel to Rudraprayag via Joshimath. Stop at the Narsingh Temple in Joshimath before continuing to Rudraprayag. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend the night there. Summers in Rudraprayag are warm, with temperatures ranging from 35C to 40C, while winters are mild during the day and chilly at night, with temperatures between 20C and 5C.

Day 10

After breakfast, leave Rishikesh for Haridwar. Rishikesh, known as the "place of sages," is a sacred city by the Ganga, surrounded by the Shivalik range of the Himalayas. The name "Rishikesh" comes from the appearance of the god Hrishikesh to the sage Raibhya Rishi. Visit famous attractions like Laxman Jhulla and Ram Jhulla before heading to Haridwar. Stay overnight in Haridwar.
