Tsomgo Lake, also known as Changu Lake, is a glacial lake nestled at an altitude of 12,400 ft, around 40 km from Gangtok. As you ascend the winding mountain roads, the landscape changes dramatically—from forested valleys to barren, snow-dusted terrain. The lake, which remains frozen during winter, reflects the surrounding snow-covered peaks in summer. Yaks and mules are available for rides around the lake, and small shops nearby serve hot tea and noodles. The lake holds religious significance and is considered sacred by the Sikkimese people.
