The Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila-Deoria Tal Trek is a captivating 3-day adventure set in the pristine landscapes of Uttarakhand, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty, spiritual significance, and cultural exploration.

Starting in Rishikesh, the trek takes you to Chopta, a scenic base camp surrounded by the majestic Himalayas. On the second day, you’ll trek to Tungnath Temple, one of the highest Shiva temples in the world, and then continue to Chandrashila Peak for panoramic views of the snow-covered mountains. The day concludes with a visit to Sari Village, where you can explore the charming local culture and enjoy a picturesque sunset.

The final day includes a serene hike to Deoria Tal, a tranquil lake surrounded by dense forests and breathtaking views. After soaking in the natural beauty, you’ll return to Rishikesh, concluding this unforgettable journey.

This trek is moderate in difficulty, making it suitable for both seasoned trekkers and beginners with good fitness levels.     Itinerary (Days)

    Day 1: Rishikesh to Chopta Campsite

    Time: 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM · Altitude gain: 1,480 meters (approx.) · Distance: 200 km · Duration: 7–8 hours

    Begin your journey with an early morning drive from Rishikesh to Chopta, a scenic village nestled in the Garhwal region. The drive takes about 7–8 hours, passing through picturesque landscapes, small towns, and lush forests. Upon arrival at Chopta, situated at 2,680 meters, check in at the campsite and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks and greenery. Enjoy a relaxing evening with a cozy dinner, preparing for the adventure ahead.

    Day 2: Chopta to Tugnath Temple & Chandrashila Peak

    Time: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM · Altitude gain: 1,320 meters · Distance: 10-12 km · Duration: 6-8 hours

    The day begins with an early start for a trek from Chopta to Tugnath Temple, located at an altitude of 3,680 meters. The trail offers magnificent views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks. After visiting the temple, you’ll continue your ascent to Chandrashila Peak (4,000 meters) for panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including Nanda Devi, Trishul, and other majestic peaks.

    After descending back to Chopta, enjoy breakfast before heading to Sari Village, where you’ll explore the village and enjoy a stunning sunset. The day concludes with a cozy dinner and a peaceful overnight stay at a homestay in Sari Village.

    Day 3: Sari Village to Deoria Tal & Rishikesh

    Time: 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM · Distance: 200 km by road · Duration: 10-12

    On Day 3, begin with an early morning hike to Deoria Tal (2,438 meters), a serene lake nestled amidst dense forests. The hike is relatively short but offers beautiful views of the surrounding peaks and landscapes. After spending some time at the lake, head back to Sari Village for breakfast.

    Post breakfast, you’ll begin the drive back to Rishikesh, arriving by evening, where your trek ends.
