Overview
Kareri Lake Trek is one of Himachal’s most scenic short treks, perfect for beginners and nature lovers. Located near Dharamshala, this glacial lake sits at the base of the Dhauladhar range, offering mesmerizing views of snow-covered peaks, pine forests, alpine meadows, and gushing mountain streams.
The trail passes through remote Himalayan villages and dense rhododendron forests, eventually leading to the pristine Kareri Lake, fed by melting snow from the Dhauladhar mountains.

Kareri Lake Itinerary
Day 1: Dharamshala/Mcleodganj to Kareri Village (Drive) + Trek to Rioti Camp
Drive to Kareri Village (1.5 hrs)
Trek begins toward Rioti (~6-7 km) through forests and wooden bridges
Camp overnight by the stream near Rioti
Day 2: Rioti to Kareri Lake and Return to Rioti Camp
Trek to Kareri Lake (~4 km)
Explore the beautiful lake and Dhauladhar views
Return to Rioti by evening for camping
Day 3: Rioti to Kareri Village + Return to Dharamshala
Trek back down to Kareri Village
Drive to Dharamshala/Mcleodganj
