Kedarkantha trek Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri (220 km, Altitude: 6,400 feet)
The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Dehradun to Sankri. This 220 km journey takes you through picturesque villages and lush landscapes, offering a glimpse of the beauty awaiting you on the trek. Upon arrival at Sankri, check-in to your guesthouse and relax, exploring the quaint village or resting for the journey ahead.
Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab (3.8 km, Altitude: 9,100 feet)
After a hearty breakfast, start your trek towards Juda Ka Talab, a beautiful campsite surrounded by dense pine forests. The trail takes you through meadows, crossing streams, and dense oak forests, where you may spot wildlife like boars and martens. Juda Ka Talab offers stunning views and is a serene spot to camp for the night. The trek will take around 5 hours
Day 3: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base (4 km, Altitude: 11,250 feet)
Today’s trek takes you to the Kedarkantha Base, passing through meadows and shepherd huts. The trail offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks like Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, and Kalanag. The base camp is an open space perfect for camping, with incredible views of the stars at night. This day’s trek will take around 4-5 hours.
Day 4: Kedarkantha Base to Kedarkantha Summit to Sankri (8 km, Altitude: 12,500 feet)
Start early for the summit of Kedarkantha. The final ascent can be challenging but is incredibly rewarding as you reach the peak. The summit offers a 360-degree view of the surrounding Himalayan ranges. After spending some time at the summit, descend to Sankri, marking the end of the trek. The return trek will take about 6-7 hours.
Day 5: Sankri to Dehradun (220 km, Altitude: 6,400 feet)
After a final breakfast in the mountains, pack your bags and begin your return journey to Dehradun. The 220 km drive back offers another opportunity to admire the beautiful landscapes. You'll reach Dehradun in the evening, marking the end of your memorable Kedarkantha Trek.
