Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri

The Kedarkantha trek begins with a scenic drive from Dehradun to Sankri, located at an altitude of 6,400 feet. Starting early at 6:00 AM, you will journey through picturesque Himalayan landscapes, passing through the serene towns of Mussoorie, Purola, and Mori. The road follows the Tons River, offering stunning views of dense forests, quaint villages, and the majestic mountains in the backdrop. After an 8-9 hour drive, you'll arrive in Sankri by the evening. This charming village, with its narrow lanes and small markets, serves as a peaceful retreat to relax and prepare for the trek ahead. Enjoy some free time exploring the village or unwind in your cozy guest house before you embark on the adventure the following day.
Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab

Day 2 of the Kedarkantha trek begins with a hearty breakfast in Sankri. From here, you will start the 5 km journey to Juda Ka Talab, the first campsite of the trek. The path is a beautiful forest trail that meanders through dense oak and pine trees, with the scent of the forest filling the air. As you walk along, you will cross small streams, and with a steady pace, reach Juda Ka Talab after 5-6 hours of trekking. This serene, picturesque lake is surrounded by tall pine trees and offers a peaceful atmosphere. The area is perfect for camping, with its snow-covered surroundings during the winter months adding to the charm. Enjoy the tranquility and beauty of this stunning location, and settle into your tents for an overnight stay
Day 3: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp

On Day 3, after an early breakfast at Juda Ka Talab, you will begin your trek towards the Kedarkantha Base Camp. The trail gradually ascends through the dense forest, and along the way, you will encounter breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges, including peaks like Bandarpoonch and Swargarohini. The trail also takes you past shepherd huts nestled in open meadows, adding to the natural beauty of the route.
After a steady climb of about 4 km, you will reach the Kedarkantha Base Camp. The views here are absolutely stunning, with vast open meadows and snow-capped peaks in every direction. You can set up camp and spend the night under a blanket of stars, with the towering mountains forming an awe-inspiring backdrop. This peaceful campsite offers a perfect opportunity to relax and soak in the beauty of the Himalayas.
Day 4: Kedarkantha Base Camp to Kedarkantha Summi to Sankri

Day 4 is the most exciting day of the Kedarkantha trek, as it involves summiting the Kedarkantha peak! The day starts early, around 5 AM, to catch the first light of the day and begin the ascent. The climb begins with a steep trek through oak and pine forests before reaching the open meadows. As you approach the summit, the snow-covered trails add to the challenging yet rewarding experience. The views from the top are nothing short of magnificent, with panoramic vistas of the Himalayan ranges, including Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Kala Nag.
After taking in the stunning views and spending some time at the summit, you will descend back to the Kedarkantha Base Camp for a brief rest. From there, continue your descent to Sankri. The downhill journey is easier, though still scenic and peaceful, as you pass through snow-covered paths and thick forests. By evening, you will reach Sankri, marking the end of an adventurous day. Enjoy a hearty meal and a relaxing night at the campsite or a local guesthouse
Day 5: Sankri to Dehradun

The final day of the Kedarkantha trek is a journey back from Sankri to Dehradun. After a hearty breakfast at the campsite or hotel in Sankri, you will begin your return drive back to Dehradun. The scenic drive, spanning 220 km, offers a peaceful conclusion to your trekking adventure, as you pass through picturesque mountain villages, dense forests, and serene rivers. This road journey allows you to reflect on your trek and the stunning views you've experienced over the last few days.
Along the way, you will stop for a lunch break to recharge before continuing on to Dehradun. The drive usually takes 8-9 hours, so expect to arrive in the city by evening, around 6:00 PM. Upon reaching Dehradun, you can either choose to head home or stay overnight and explore the city. The trek comes to a close, leaving you with unforgettable memories of your Himalayan adventure.
