Hampta Pass trek at Manali

The Hampta Pass Trek is one of the most dramatic crossover treks in Himachal Pradesh. Starting from the lush green valleys of Kullu and ending in the stark, arid landscape of Spiti, this trek is perfect for adventure enthusiasts who want to witness contrasting landscapes within a few days. 1. Trekkers should be physically fit and comfortable walking long distances at high altitudes.
2. Recommended age: 15 to 55 years (flexible for experienced trekkers with good fitness).

4.  A basic health check-up before the trek is strongly advised.

Drive from Manali (6,700 ft) to Jobra (9,800 ft).

Trek to Chika campsite (10,100 ft) through pine forests and open meadows.

Distance: 2 km | Time: 1.5–2 hours.

Stay in tents by the river.

• Trek along the Rani Nallah, crossing lush meadows and rocky patches.

• Reach Balu Ka Ghera (11,900 ft), a vast plain surrounded by snow peaks.

• Distance: 5 km | Time: 4–5 hours.

• Camping with views of Hanuman Tibba.

• Descend to Shea Goru (12,600 ft) through snow and rocky terrain.

• Distance: 8 km | Time: 8–9 hours.

• Trek down along the valley to Chatru (11,000 ft).

• Witness the dramatic shift from green valleys to Spiti’s barren mountains.

• If weather and roads allow, drive to the magical Chandratal Lake (14,000 ft).

• Distance: 7 km trek + 70 km drive to Chandratal.

• Drive back to Manali, cherishing memories of this high-altitude crossover.

• Drop-off at Manali by late afternoon.
